My wife is not a fan of drinking at our local bar.
I love my local bar. They have a great bartenders, solid ownership, awesome chili, the best black bean burger on the planet, and of course, a constant rotation of delicious beer.
That said, I try to limit my time at the bar because it is expensive. At five to seven dollars a beer, it certainly is not cheap.
So, whenever the opportunity arises to have a brew or two at a friend’s house, I take them up on the offer. It generally saves me about $20 compared to going to my local bar.
Doing this once a month saves me $240/year - money that invariably helps me complete the Mason Jar Vacation Challenge.
And, when it’s crunch time before vacation, I’ll put a moratorium on going out for drinks because as good as my local bar is, vacation is better.
