Saving money at the grocery store can be as simple as making a list and sticking to it. Plus, you’ll save yourself a lot of time by avoiding that never wanted trip back across the store to buy something you forgot - or worse, having to come back to the store later.
As a rule, I try to be in and out of the grocery store in under 20 minutes. I make a list before heading out and arrange it by aisle. Anal retentive? Maybe, but it only takes a few minutes of planning to avoid an extended stay at Kroger - and ain’t nobody got time for that!
Want to save time and money like a pro? Download a list-making app or your grocer’s app. Kroger, for example, will automatically arrange your items by aisle based on the store you select, but it isn’t always perfect.
For that reason (and to appease my anal retentive tendencies), I use Todoist. It’s a great app that houses all of my to-do’s. I have a ‘Grocery’ project that I share with the wife so she can add what she needs to the list.
When you shop with a list, you’re doing a small amount of planning that will save you countless hours, many return trips, and plenty of cash along the way.
